The 2023-24 campaign has not been quite a fair one to Newcastle United.

With the combination of UEFA Champions League football alongside domestic competitions, injuries have dealt with the Magpies.

It has now been revealed that defender Sven Botman could be on the shelf for up to six to nine months with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The Dutch centre back, who will also miss the Euros, suffered the injury in Newcastle's 0-2 FA Cup quarter final loss at Manchester City.

"Sven Botman will undergo surgery next week after suffering a knee injury against Manchester City," a statement from Newcastle read.

"A scan has confirmed that he sustained an injury to his ACL and he is expected to return within six to nine months.

"We wish you a full and speedy recovery, Sven."
