After nearly a decade of beautiful moments, Liverpool faithfuls were emotional and in a 'pinch me' state after Jürgen Klopp announced his decision to step down as manager of the club at the end of the current season.

The German cited his energy level and capacity of work at an optimum as a major factor on why he intends to take a rest and break from management.

When the curtain draws on the season in May, Klopp is expected to receive an emotional farewell when Liverpool play their final game in May, following a successful career in Merseyside - winning every trophy available including ending a 30-year Premier League and over a decade long UEFA Champions League drought.

  • A man who played a big role in Klopp's success at the club is - Michael Edwards.

Edwards is now set to return to Anfield following a completion of an agreement to return to the club he left years ago when he was the Football Director.

Edwards played a big role in the Reds' success as he recruited the likes of Mohammed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Sadio Mané, Andy Robertson, Fabinho, Ibrahima Konate, amongst others while he was Director.

Liverpool owners, FSG, approached Edwards in January, in a bid to have him return and he will also be joined by Richard Hughes from Bournemouth, a man whom he also wants to work with.

Liverpool are also actively searching for a replacement for Klopp ahead of next season with Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi as targets.

With Edwards joining, Liverpool look assured of continued recruitment success as they have had over the years with smart signings and sales.
